You’ve been on the internet for a while now. You’ve probably heard SEO success stories from the likes of Neil Patel, and how he managed to grow his search traffic by 51% in 3 months, and other SEO experts. However, it still doesn’t change the fact that you’re probably struggling to understand the ways of driving in traffic to your blog. Everything sounds so complicated and you’re just looking for a simple way to get a boost in views so you can share more of your writing.
Here at Adult Creative, we understand that. Views = more sales and tend to bring in a loyal audience who are keen to discuss and share your posts. However, the sad truth is that you can’t get these views instantly. It takes a long time to rank highly on Google. In a recent study, from Ahrefs, only 22 % of pages on Google’s top ten results were created within the year. The rest tended to be between 2- 3 years old.
Think of building traffic as a long term investment. What you put into your blog will ultimately determine how many views you get in return in terms of audience response. You need to start creating “epic posts“, writing that is informative and has value to it. It’s not just a few sentences put under an H1 tag. Instead, it gives people the answers that they are searching for.
So, if you are looking for some advice on how to increase your website’s traffic, or more importantly how to get people to read your blog, here are Adult Creative’s top tips to get you started. All of these methods can be added to your blog in under 30 minutes and contain a mixture of good content and simple SEO practices.
Sound good? Well, let’s begin!
At the end of the day, your blog is personal to you and your interests. No matter what area of the adult industry you work in, the more individuality you give your blog, the more likely that it’s going to pick up some stray traffic and get people interested in what you write. Let’s look at the example of a successful sex blog to get us started. Girl on the net is a fantastic example of a sex blogger who knows exactly what sort of audience she is aiming towards (young men and women who want to learn more about sex and their bodies) and has used relaxed language to make her blog understandable and easily absorbable. Let’s take a look at her home page and some of her blogging formats.
We’ll start with the homepage:
Now, what can you see from the homepage? Snippets of content combined with personalised titles and images. When it comes to a blog, one of the most important things that you can do is make it sound human. That’s what is so good about Girl on the Net. Read her titles and they always give you a sense of personalisation. That and in her first sentence (aka. the intro hook), she always has a link to an additional post. That is subtle advertising at its finest.
So, let’s move onto an example of her work:
First thing you see is the image and the title “Sometimes it’s my job to disgust you” The title is unique and, whilst it may make you feel a little queazy, it draws you in and intrigues you. You instantly want to learn more about it. Once you get into the main dialogue, girl on the net instantly addresses you by saying “sometimes I want to arouse you.” It is a masterful way of grabbing your attention before moving onto the main topics at hand.
Now, look at this blog. If you were to check it for small mistakes in the content it would be simple things like:
⦁ Wrong H Tags
⦁ Broken Links
⦁ Incorrect use of Bold and Italics
⦁ Incorrect spelling and grammar
⦁ Broken pictures
⦁ Missing Meta Descriptions & Alt Tags
⦁ No Internal linking
These are all extremely easy to fix and will help raise your Google ranking, especially in relation to increasing your blog’s traffic. People have very short attention spans when it comes to content. That’s why you’ve got to make things as simple as possible for them. You have about 15 seconds to capture someone’s attention when they enter your website. That means you’ve also got to have a fast loading speed and make sure that your website’s formatting is easy to read.
Let’s take Neil Patel’s blog as a good example of formatting:
It took literally about 5 seconds to load Neil Patel’s blog and, as you can see, it’s extremely easy to read. The single sentences allow for quick and easy reading and are immediately focused on their topic. He literally drives traffic to the blog by immediately drawing your attention to Google and the different facts that you need to know about that search engine. The fact that you also get a lot of pictures and very little content makes it easier to absorb. That’s what you need to consider doing to bring in traffic to your blog.
Whilst picking a generalised topic can bring in the views, it’s something that will have been written time and time again by other writers in your own shoes. The main way to make your content stand out compared to theirs is to make it searchable.
Let’s say that you have a blog about sexy lingerie. You’re looking for new blogging topics that don’t just involve you going on other people’s websites and looking at their topics for inspiration. Why not just do a search on Google to see what topics go up? Whilst lingerie won’t show up on an auto-fill, the word “underwear” certainly will.
That’s why we typed in ‘is “underwear”‘ and got:
Whilst some of these suggestions might sound a little silly, what’s stopping you from writing a blog on “Is underwear necessary?” It’s a genuine topic and people are searching for it. So, if you are looking to boost blog traffic, why not pick a keyword and type it into Google? You might be surprised at what you find. You may even want to consider looking at websites like Answerthepublic.com that generate questions based on keywords. These are the questions we managed to generate just from typing in the word “underwear.”
Think of your own keywords and start searching for them. If your content can rank for a specific question, you will find that you will probably be able to boost blog traffic from it.
An additional way of creating searchable content is by doing the three-circle approach. This tends to be more reliant on your own experience of the industry, but can still be a useful tool when it comes to sorting out your ideas. Here is what your basic three circle image should look like:
Once you have created your three circles, it’s time for you to add ideas to them. Create ideas that you are passionate about in the industry, topics that your industry want to know about and also topics that you know about created from your time in the industry. If any of these ideas intersect then place them in the intersecting rings. From there, you will be able to find ideas that hit a sweet spot and will be able to have a bit of all of them. These are the ideas that are going to generate your blog traffic.
When it comes to writing up appropriate content for your clients, one of the most important things that you can do is actually understand who your audience is and what they want. Whilst we touched on this before, that was to do with the very topics themselves. This is more to do with the generation of your audience and how they want their content formatted.
So, the first thing you need to think about when writing up any content is what sort of people you are aiming towards. Let’s use the example of BoredPanda to get us started:
When you look at BoredPanda, the first thing that catches your attention is the title. It’s big, bold and clearly has a lot of information in it, after all, it is named “139 of the best astronomy photographs…”, so it promises the audience a good amount of information in return for staying on the article. A big article, probably around 3000 words, will get you in a lot more traffic than a normal small post. This is because it gives people something to read and if the content is right, can keep their attention on there for longer.
Now, another thing you may have noticed is that in terms of text, there is only a small amount of text in the introduction with a few internal links dotted about. This is because the list is made to be visual, aka. to bring in more traffic to see the “click baitish” images. BoredPanda knows that their target audience is bored Millenials. So, they give them something that’s easy to digest and fun to read. This will keep them scrolling for ages and will hopefully bring more traffic to the website.
So, what can you learn from this website about how you can turn your website into the ultimate blog traffic generator? Well, you can start by making your website visual. Focus on adding some pictures and videos to your blog that can make people interested. Your topics don’t all need to be fully serious. Instead, focus on adding some humour to your posts to make people want to stay on them. Just take Passion VIP, for example, and their humorous video on the homepage of their website:
Now, this is highly relevant to the adult industry. It’s funny, interactive and makes you want to watch this content through to the end. Lots of writing isn’t the only thing that will bring in traffic to your website. Instead, focus on the content itself and how it can be visual enough to encourage people to stay.
Clickbait headlines have been around since the dawn of advertising. Take a look at this advertisement from the 1920s!
Just from that title, we think, “BUT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN HE STARTED TO PLAY?” If you are thinking about incorporating a clickbait title, you need to think what your audience wants to know. Modern adverts do this all the time with taglines like “Nora is 85 but has the skin of a 26-year-old. How she managed to do will blow your mind.” Each title needs to be compelling, interesting and instantly grab your attention. Just like these examples:
The only problem that comes with titles like these is that there is a chance that people will instantly click off once they open the article. That’s why your content needs to be just as good as what your title is.
Remember, you are writing to please your audience not just to please Google. That means that whilst you can have your keywords, don’t overdo it and instead focus on what you’re writing. You are going to want to ask your audience questions and make them interested in what you are going to say next. Teasers, like “Number 13 will blow your mind”, and big buzz words, like “free“, “fast“, “easy” or “proven” is a great way to attract your audience’s attention and finally let you answer the ultimate question about how to make your blog popular!
You may also want to consider adding “costs” to your blog. Pornhub is a fantastic way to see how this sort of clickbaitish advertising works. People are naturally drawn to good deals and if you are selling a product at a good cost, you should show it off! Take for instance this lovely ad from Pornhub:
Not only is Pornhub brilliant for using extremely relevant ads, but “pay 4 pussy” and “thots fuck for free” makes it humorous and easy to read. This is the sort of writing that is going to keep people reading your blog. Adding a title as simple as “Why I’m spending £144,000 on video editing in 2019 (and why you should too!” Keep your writing simple, funny and most importantly honest, and you will see a rise in traffic in no time. Try not to embellish the truth too much and your blogs should turn out great.
Have you ever heard of Link Outreach? Probably not. Well, Link Outreach is a great way of generating traffic to any webpage.
To put it bluntly, when you deal with Link Outreach, you are looking to put links to your website on a different website. To do this you will want to write guest blog content. So, you will basically write a blog page for a different website entirely. However, the trick is to put a subtle link in your content that will go to your original website. Take a look at how we have done this:
This is an example of one of our most recent blogs. As you can see, the topic has nothing to do with escorting and it is not even placed on an adult blog! However, that does not mean that it is not going to get views. Pick a topic that people are going to flock to and try to subtly insert your link into it. To do this you’re going to need to get into a creative writing mode where you can think outside of the box and consider how you’re going to be getting some organic traffic. Don’t try to hide your link or make it inconspicuous. This not only will make Google potentially punish the blog or even the guest website, but no one will click on it.
You will also need to go out and find guest blogs that are willing to have new writers on their website. Unfortunately, this will be through a good old fashioned manual search on Google. Try to look for general blogging websites that have a lot of categories that you can write about.
You may also want to consider installing MOZ on your computer to check out the DA rankings of the different websites. A strong DA on a website means that it has the chance of driving more traffic to your website. For instance, we used our DA reader on the Tab. This is what we got:
As you can tell that theTab has an extremely high DA rating, meaning that it would be the perfect place to write a guest blog. However, keep in mind that you may need to pay for it. That’s why it’s up to you to judge whether or not it’s worth it in order to get people to read your blog and visit your website. Link Outreach is basically the best way to boost blog traffic.
